It is my conjecture
that the art of audiovisual (film/album) synchronicity may eventually become
part of a broader, overarching synchronicity art. As an example, before
becoming involved with the synchronization of video and audio sources,
I worked extensively -- and still do -- with what can be called map synchronicities. I've
found that the techniques and methods used to uncover personal film/album
synchronicities are quite similar in feel and structure to those involving
working with maps as I do.
My guess is that other
types of artistic synchronicity are also being explored. Take the case of the recent phenomenon known as the Bible
codes; is it possible that these are best described as some kind of
synchronicity art? Could crop
circles have anything to do with this subject? How about the
now legendary Face on
Mars? I would also perhaps include the
Paul
is Dead material in this category as well.
As noted on "The Kitchen
Synchs" page, I gave up administrator duties for the busy
"Film/Album Synchronicity Board" in the Fall of 2002, and directed interested parties to both the
SynchBoard
from the "Synchronicity Arkive" (a discussion board which "The F/A Synch
Board" can be said to have emerged from, and now merges back into), as
well as a new and potentially quite large collaborative site known as SynchronicityArt.com.
Unfortunately, the latter site did not pan out. The Synchronicity
Arkive, at present time early 2007), is still alive and kicking. Please
visit!
Evolving a more comprehensive synchronicity
art would also help put the intent element in proper perspective, as well
as gestalt theory
principles, another idea now widely applied to the perception of audiovisual
synchronicities. A related concept is intertextuality,
a term applied most often to experimental literature. I would also
mention various forms of on-line glass
bead games
as a connected subject. Many newer subjects can be added to this
list that have developed only in the last several years, or after the
last major update of "The Ultimate Pink Floyd Synchronicities site."
