The 36-Triangle

In order to understand the ramifications of the Circle of Oz, we must go back to the Pythagorean Dekad, specifically its representation in the Tetractys, and extend it into what I call the 36-Triangle. Essentially, this combines the 1st ten perfect numbers (Dekad) with the 26 letters of the modern English alphabet, making a total of 36 elements that can be arranged in 8 rows on a triangle as follows:

We will call the two divisions of the 36-Triangle the Circle of Numbers (top 10 elements, in rows 1-4 above) and Circle of Letters (bottom 26 elements, arranged in rows 5-8). The Circle of Numbers obviously equates with the Tetractys. Why these are referred to (once again) as circles will become clear below.

The Circle of Numbers and Circle of Letters are  thought of as incompatible in modern  society. However, to ancient people numbers and letters were seen as complementary parts of one whole, for example, in the Greek & Hebrew gematria systems. The principles behind the 36-Triangle is a throwback to these earlier, more synchronistic times. In this light, it is perhaps best to view the Circle of Numbers and Circle of Letters as marriage partners, equal yet complementary/ opposite. Equal in terms of Universal spirit, as symbolized by their similar vertical height in the 36-Triangle (both being the height of 1 internal triangle). Opposite in that they represent before and after pictures of the Universal space/time process, like the rainbow colors are created by refractions of  pure white light. Thus the elements of the Circle of Numbers are colorless (white) in the above picture, while the Circle of Letters are colored (the 4 rainbow colors: yellow, red, green and blue). They also represent the realm of Heaven and Earth, as well as many other pairs of traditional opposites. The 36-Triangle is a way to encompass these opposites into one whole, recreating the original Universal template.

The Matrix Cube

Another way to visualize the 36-Triangle is to split its 8 rows into two north-south circles, the upper being the Circle of  Numbers and the lower the Circle of Letters. A certain separation or gap is made between the circles, allowing the creation of 4 pairs of magic circles that mysteriously produce the outline of a central shared cube, as outlined in red below:

We will call this the Matrix Cube, for all shapes and forms of our Universe are symbolically borne from it. The magic circles trace 4 of the 6 faces of this cube and 4 of the 6 edge diagonals (diagonals between any two opposite edges of the cube). All of these magic circles encompass exactly 4 elements which add up to 18, hence their "magic" quality. The other 2 faces of the cube are the Circle of Numbers (upper) and Circle of Letters (lower) themselves, which are not magical since neither total 18 (being 10 and 26 respectively). The other 2 diagonals are the 2 connecting the 4 edges of these 2 unmagical faces. They also do not total 18 and are likewise not magical.

Click HERE to see all 6 pairs of cube faces and edge diagonals.

The most interesting feature of this cube for our present purposes is the magical front and back faces of 1-4-5-8 and 2-3-6-7 respectively, which can be seen as east and west hemispheres of the cube (one must look at them as sideways to see this). These hemispheres are shared equally by the Circle of Numbers and Circle of Letters, and create a sub-template where their union will be enacted.  Throughout the game, however, these two hemispheres must always remain equal. This is a kind of symbolic "vows of marriage" between the Circles of Numbers and Letters (till death do us part, etc.). E. and W. hemispheres also represent the first pair of offspring, or the original halves of MaN (overt M and hidden N) which result from this marriage. This is according to the Oz gematria that we will discuss.

The Matrix Circle

For our purposes, the interactions of the Matrix Cube may best be translated back into 2-dimensions through the following circle, which we will call the Matrix Circle:

The Matrix Circle embodies many of the properties of the 36-Triangle and Matrix Cube. For example, we have the row numbers representing the Circle of Numbers (1-4) and Circle of Letters (5-8) again divided into upper and lower sections. They can be seen as spinning in opposite directions, thus: 3 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 3 (etc.) and 8 > 7 > 6 > 5  > 8 (etc.). This implies they are whole (sub-)circles as well as hemispheres of a larger circle. Importantly, the left and right hemispheres of the Matrix Circle recreate the numbers of the front and back faces of the Matrix Cube, both of  which total 18 (right hemisphere = 1+4+8+5; left hemisphere = 6+7+3+2).  As in the 36-Triangle, the 1-2-3-4 row representations here are shown in white, while the 5-6-7-8 nos. are in the 4 rainbow colors.

In the next section, the Matrix Circle provides the basis for explaining the gestation of the Circle of Oz inside the Circle of Floyd.

Related Ideas

Those familiar with modern science may also be interested to know that the opposition of the Circles of Numbers and Letters appears to be related to superstring theories, specifically where particles existing in 26 dimensions move in opposite directions from those in 10 dimensions. This seems to imply that the Matrix Cube, which is actually 4-dimensional (& perhaps more) may have as yet undetermined applications in terms of  particle physics and cosmology.
