The Naming of an Unknown Creator
216.88.24.134 writes: Greetings again, and Happy Halloween! In the connect-the-dot game from my December posts last year, a Magic Square of Saturn is implied by two interlocking angles and a bisecting central diagonal. This is created from 8 towns in the west central part of Iowa. The Magic Square of Saturn represents MaN (or MaNkind). The central diagonal (MaNilla-Red Line) can be seen to reveal a point in time where the two complementary forces within man are united in alchemical fusion: the creation of Oz. This is told in Baum's biography TO PLEASE A CHILD, pgs. 106-110, which connects the origin of the Oz name, Admiral Dewey's Battle of Manila Bay, and the heart vs. brain debate of the Scarecrow and Tinman. Henry M. Littlefield was only partially wrong in believing TWOO book an allegory of silver and gold bimetalism. The turn of the Century Populist arguement is actually based upon a much older alchemical saying that all gold must 1st be silver. The creation of Oz (the name Oz may refer to the 16:1 silver ounces to gold ounces rallying cry of bimetallists) recast this ancient belief into intellect (gold, sun) vs. emotions (silver, moon), the core tension of the Oz mythology. Head without heart causes too much singularity (fire; scorching; ego); heart without head reflects too much mutability (water; flooding; lack of ego). Dark Side of the Rainbow, understood in its wholeness, attempts to resolve this very same Scarecrow vs. Tinman dilemma. Contrary to some opinion, DSOTR appears to originate not in Pink Floyd but within The Wizard of Oz. I will refer to this unknown creator as Brainard, alternately Brainerd. One can say that Brainard drew in lunar DSOTM from the outside to complement his solar nature. He also created the Iowa magic square, and the following: FLOYD - (Betsy) Layne; FLOYD - Pyramid; David-Brainard Booker T.
